"Tobacco Cessation and Addiction Recovery" will be presented on June 30, 2009; 7:30 pm to 9:00 pm; by Jason Schwartz, LMSW; Clinical Director, Dawn Farm; and Matt Statman, CAC-M; Dawn Farm Education Series Coordinator. This workshop will describe the prevalence of tobacco addiction among alcoholics and drug addicts, the relationship between tobacco use and recovery, and tobacco cessation techniques helpful for recovering alcoholics/addicts. This workshop is part of the Dawn Farm Education Series, a FREE, annual workshop series. Programs are free and open to anyone interested in attending, including people with a personal or professional interest in the topic. Registration is not required. 1.5 hours of free C.E. approved by MCBAP (Michigan Certification Board for Addiction Professionals) is offered for each workshop. This conference will be a great opportunity to exchange view in tobacco control strategy and different component of this strategy. The health professional role in tobacco control will have a good place in this conference by focusing in smoking addiction mechanism and therapy, and the role of health professional to manage this addiction. The World Health Organization has launched The Framework Convention on Tobacco Control (FCTC), now ratified by 163 to date. This conference is a new opportunity to forge partnerships in a field that is gathering pace as more governments take initiatives in tobacco-free policies, and we look forward very much to working together with you.
