METHODS OF SMOKING CESSATION AND THEIR COMPARATIVE EFFECTIVENESS

The aim of the present paper is the comparative estimation of the effectiveness of different methods of smoking cessation by the data of longitudinal (2-5 years) researches. As the exponents of effectiveness we used results of researches, characterizing the "cost" of smoking cessation in the form of change of functional exponents, developing with cessation of smoking together with the data of psychological testing. Exponents of subjective conditions, capacity both mental (in the exponents of correctural test, short and long memory) and physical (test PWC 170) working capacity and exponents of health (energetical and integrational) and morbidity, and also functions of external breathing and psycho emotional stresses were registrated. An object of the research were 162 young (18-26 years of age) and 100 elderly (60-69 years) people. Results of conducted researches allowed to estimate effectiveness of methods of smoking cessation, differing in following features: with some external or internal prohibition, previously realized; freeing "perse" or by the way of "compensating replacement"; quick or consequent; after psychological preparation or without it, individual or group method. Results showed that the usage of some methods is accompanied by the "cost" of smoking cessation, which is higher - especially in elderly age, the harm from the smoking, which is preceded by psychological preparation, which makes the refusal an internally realized action. The most effective is the method of "compensating replacement", conducted in small groups.
