CREATION OF TOXICOLOGICAL DATA SHEET OF TOBACCO SMOKE

The creation of the "toxicological data sheet of tobacco smoke" by the International Labour Office is the next logical step after the approval of the Charter against tobacco in the Madrid conference (November 7-11 1988). It states: "Every worker has the right to breathe air in the workplace that is unpolluted by tobacco smoke".

Tobacco smoke is a toxic product that is now polluting many workplaces. One on four workers is more sensitive to the impact of Environmental Tobacco Smoke.

Active smoking kills more workers aged between 25 and 65 than all the professional diseases and workplace accidents combined.

The establishment of the "toxicological data sheet of tobacco smoke" by the International Labour Office would give to all the parties concerned about health on the workplace the necessary impetus to get involved in this issue.

All the anti-tobacco groups and organizations attending the Helsinki Conference should take the necessary steps to convince the International Labour Office to create this data sheet.
