This was the second CINDI Quit and Win campaign in Pitkäranta region. The campaign activities were organized by Central Hospital of Pitkäranta and the Pitkäranta Project. The intervention activities and materials were planned in collaboration with the Smokefree North Karelia Project. Two seminars were arranged to the key persons in Pitkäranta Project by the North Karelia Project. The seminars were focused on anti-smoking intervention methods.
The Quit and Win registration form was published in local newspaper Novaja Lagoda several times. Registration forms were also available in hospitals and policlinics in Pitkäranta town and the surrounding villages. The practical advices how to quit smoking, articles about the hazardous effects of smoking and the positive aspects of non-smoking were published in the local newspaper. The Pitkäranta Project had its own Quit and Win poster. The prizes and the last registration day were given in the poster. The posters were displayed at hospitals, policlinics, schools, libraries, work sites and public places. The first smoking cessation group in Pitkäranta started a month before the last quit day. There were eight men and two women in the group. The group members were used as role models in the campaign.
