In a study from Bombay, India, chewing tobacco use was responsible for 47% of all

oral cancers, and the risk is increased six-fold compared to nonusers. In addition, the

rate of stillbirths was tripled in tobacco users, and birth weights were decreased by an

average of 4 to 8 ounces.
